Relaxing Manual Lymph Drainage Massage
This is a full body, lymphatic drainage massage. It has been proven to stimulate the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system helps fluid and waste leave the body and transports essential nutrients which help to build cells that boost immunity and improve metabolism. When the lymphatic system is sluggish it cannot efficiently eliminate wastes and so the body must find a place to dispose of the excess toxins. People with impaired lymph may also feel sluggish or be more susceptible to viruses. The pressure used is light with short, strokes and pumping movements to encourage the extra lymph fluid to move away from swollen areas. MLD has a relaxing and calming effect on the nervous system.

Hot Stone RMT Massage
Hot Stone Registered massage RMT depends on a treatment goal and your condition. RMT at Avora Skin Spa will apply some traditional Swedish strokes and use deep tissue techniques while using a heated stone. The RMT therapist may leave the stones in certain areas of the body, particularly along your spine. Sometimes, the stones are placed on your hands or feet.
Heat can be beneficial to those with arthritis and stiff muscles, injuries. The therapeutic effect of heat include increasing the extensibility of tissues, decreasing joint stiffness, reducing pain, relieving muscle spasms and aids in the post-acute phase of healing. Heat therapy has a relaxing and calming effect on the nervous system.
- Massage reduces waste products such as lactic acid & carbonic acid that build up in muscles after activity and cause cramping, discomfort, irritability. It aids recovery from soft tissue injuries by increasing blood circulation to injured areas.
- Massage increases the blood supply and nutrition to the muscles without adding to their load of toxic acid, produced through voluntary muscle contraction (such as exercise). Massage thus helps to overcome harmful “fatigue” products resulting from strenuous exercise or injury.
- Massage improves muscle tone and helps prevent or delay muscular atrophy resulting from forced inactivity. Massage relaxes muscle spasms and relieves muscle tension.
- Transverse massage (a therapeutic massage technique) separates muscle fibers, undoing or preventing the formations of adhesions. Massage stretches connective tissue, improves its circulation and nutrition so that it breaks down or prevents the formation of adhesions.
- Massage may have a sedative, stimulating, or even exhausting effect on the nervous system, depending on the type and length of massage treatment given.
