Manual Lymph Drainage Massage
This is a full body, lymphatic drainage massage. It has been proven to stimulate the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system helps fluid and waste leave the body and transports essential nutrients which help to build cells that boost immunity and improve metabolism. When the lymphatic system is sluggish it cannot efficiently eliminate wastes and so the body must find a place to dispose of the excess toxins. People with impaired lymph may also feel sluggish or be more susceptible to viruses. The pressure used is light with short, strokes and pumping movements to encourage the extra lymph fluid to move away from swollen areas. MLD has a relaxing and calming effect on the nervous system.
Thai Hot Herbal Compress Massage - by special request
The healing practice of Thai herbal compress therapy dates back nearly 5,000 years, to an era when the knowledge of plants, including their effects through ingestion or application on the body, were painstakingly researched and then passed down from one generation to the next.
The Thai hot herbal compress tightly bound in fabric which is steamed until piping hot and firmly rolled. Before or after a full-body, pressure point massage, the hot herbal compress is pressed or pounded over the entire body in order to help tight muscle to relax in preparation for deep tissue massage.
Heat therapy also called thermotherapy. It can be beneficial to those with arthritis and stiff muscles and injuries to the deep tissue. The therapeutic effects of heat include increasing the extensibility of collagen tissues, decreasing joint stiffness, reducing pain, relieving muscle spasms, and aids in the post-acute phase of healing, and increasing blood flow.
Thai herbal compresses can also be applied cold and recommended to clients with muscle strains, tendon or ligament sprains, contusions, hematomas and other injuries requiring cold therapy.
Each compress can be reused 4-5 times: you can bring it with you for the consecutive appointments, use it as hot or cold compress at home. In that case you will need to take each compress out of the plastic bag, let it sit on the counter for 1-2 days, put it back in the plastic bag and refrigerate until the next time you want to use it.
The treatment combines RMT massage techniques with a pressure patting, rolling, kneading and deep tissue massage. Appointments are 60 – 90 minutes long. Two Herbal compress are included in the price of the treatment.
Hot Stone RMT Massage
Hot Stone Massage depends on a treatment goal and your condition. RMT at Avora Skin Spa will apply some traditional Swedish strokes and use deep tissue techniques while using a heated stone. The therapist may leave the stones in certain areas of the body, particularly along your spine. Sometimes, the stones are placed on your hands or feet.

- Massage reduces waste products such as lactic acid & carbonic acid that build up in muscles after activity and cause cramping, discomfort, irritability. It aids recovery from soft tissue injuries by increasing blood circulation to injured areas.
- Massage increases the blood supply and nutrition to the muscles without adding to their load of toxic acid, produced through voluntary muscle contraction (such as exercise). Massage thus helps to overcome harmful “fatigue” products resulting from strenuous exercise or injury.
- Massage improves muscle tone and helps prevent or delay muscular atrophy resulting from forced inactivity. Massage relaxes muscle spasms and relieves muscle tension.
- Transverse massage (a therapeutic massage technique) separates muscle fibers, undoing or preventing the formations of adhesions. Massage stretches connective tissue, improves its circulation and nutrition so that it breaks down or prevents the formation of adhesions.
- Massage may have a sedative, stimulating, or even exhausting effect on the nervous system, depending on the type and length of massage treatment given.
