The dermis is made up of 70-85 percent collagen, which is responsible for its density, firmness, elasticity and smoothness – the very characteristics of young skin. Unfortunately, already around the age of 25, there is a negative balance in the production of collagen – on average its level decreases by 2% per year, and during menopause – even by 30-35 percent. In addition, this process is exacerbated by external factors: stress, pollution, UV exposure, unhealthy diet. In addition, the fibers produced lose their quality with age. This is due to the weakening of the autophagy process – so the replacement of old and damaged cells with new and healthy ones.
