The skin is the largest organ of the human body and acts as the barrier between the environment and our internal organs. Because it interfaces with the environment, skin plays a very important role in protecting (the body) against external aggression. This protective role often means that our skin suffers the consequences of this external aggression, whether it be sun damage, harsh product regimes, smoking or other lifestyle issues.
It is essential that we learn how to look after our skin and how to make the right choices in terms of skin products and skin treatments. It is possible to improve skin condition and repair damage and more importantly, achieve the “glowing and healthy” skin we all crave. With such an enormous array of products and treatments on the market, it is extremely difficult to choose the right way forward, for our individual skin type. It is all too easy to be lured by luxurious looking creamy inexpensive packaging, which in all probability make little or no difference to our skin.
It is also easy to be misadvised by well-meaning but often under-educated “skin consultants” regarding “which” treatments are suitable for your skin. Often treatments can make matters worse rather than better and many treatments are too harsh for the skin and may upset the delicate balance that exists in the skins flora and fauna and its own natural, healthy environment.
So, how do we move forward, in our quest for healthy skin?
The most important starting point is the basic question – what is my skin type? Is it oily, lipid dry or permanently diffused with redness?
Once we have the answer to this important question, we have a basis to work from. However, it is impossible to determine this by a quick, cursory glance at the skin. A full consultation, a magnifying lamp, skin measuring machine and possibly a scanner, is needed for any skin specialist, to make an accurate and honest diagnosis of “skin type”. A quick, two-minute, over the counter skin check, is not going to offer an accurate assessment of skin type. Neither is it going to offer you honest, unbiased advice from a skin consultant, selling an individual product range. Their primary aim is product sales not honest skin advice.
The Skin Analysis at AVORA SKIN SPA offers a full 20-minute skin analysis which will equip you with accurate information on skin type, how to care for skin, how to improve it both internally and externally and which products and treatments may or may not be of benefit to your individual skin.
Avora Skin Therapist starts with a Conversation About the Skin in order to establish the unique personality of the skin: its history, its strengths, its weaknesses, its needs, and desires.
Next the Tactile and Visual Evaluation will examine the skin’s biological functions centimeter by centimeter: its texture, pore size, sebum production, elasticity level, pigmentation, etc. The diagnosis concludes with a validation using comparison and analysis tools such as Multi-Dermascope. Used for the very first time in a spa environment, Muiti-Dermascope comes directly from Germany and the best manufacturer of professional skin diagnostic equipment.
Once you are equipped with this information, you will have a sound base of information with which to work. You will be given a plan of action and written advice on your skin type and which products and treatments will be of maximum benefit to your individual skin type.
The Skin Analysis at AVORA SKIN SPA offers a full and comprehensive Analysis for $35 (and it’s FREE with your first service). This is probably the best investment you will ever make for your skin!
